GrantSlate vs Grant Frog
Both products now say they write from your own organization's content, so it is worth being precise about what separates them. Grant Frog is an all-in-one grants management platform for nonprofits, schools and consultants. GrantSlate drafts the proposal. If you need to run a grants program, we are not a substitute for them at any price.

Grants management with AI writing
What it is for
GrantSlate
Writing the proposal. One job, and it is the same job on every plan including the free one.
Grant Frog
Running the grants program. Their published material describes an all-in-one platform for nonprofits, schools and consultants: funder research, tracking every request from LOI to award, post-award reporting and team collaboration.
Funder database
GrantSlate
None, deliberately. We search live programs when you ask, but we do not maintain a funder index.
Grant Frog
A database of more than 200,000 private, corporate and community foundations, per their launch announcement. That index is a core part of what the subscription buys.
AI drafting
GrantSlate
A full draft produced from your organization profile and the funder's guidelines, with the budget narrative read back out and added up separately.
Grant Frog
Lily AI, launched July 2026. One-click assists inside their content editor for cover letters, executive summaries, project and program summaries, grant titles and proofreading, plus custom instructions you write yourself.
What the AI writes from
GrantSlate
Your organization profile: mission, programs, outcomes, and the figures you entered in the form.
Grant Frog
Their Grant Content Library: your saved narratives, program descriptions and boilerplate, kept in folders as reusable snippets. Their launch material says drafts draw on that library.
Protection against invented figures
GrantSlate
Enforced in the product rather than promised in the copy. The model is handed your figures as the only permitted numbers, the budget narrative is re-added line by line, and a missing fact becomes a named placeholder instead of a guess. A verification gate runs before a proposal is marked complete or exported.
Grant Frog
We have not found a no-fabrication guarantee in Grant Frog's published material, and we will not pretend to know how their drafting behaves internally. Their launch announcement describes writing, editing and polishing from your saved content. It does not describe a rule about which figures a draft may use.
Requirement checking
GrantSlate
Paste the funder's guidelines and we list the requirements they state, marking each as addressed, missing or unclear in your draft.
Grant Frog
Not described in their published material. Their editor is built around your saved content and reusable snippets rather than reading a funder's guidelines back to you.
Pipeline, deadlines and reporting
GrantSlate
None. We draft proposals; we do not manage your grant calendar.
Grant Frog
Grant tracking from LOI to award, automated deadline reminders, task assignment, a daily dashboard, document storage, funder cultivation records and board-ready reporting.
Team and consultant use
GrantSlate
Built for one person drafting. Team is $199 a month and the organization profile is shared, but there is no task assignment and no multi-client workspace.
Grant Frog
Invite development, executives and finance, assign tasks, and give everyone their own dashboard. Consultants can run every client's grants in one workspace.
Published price
GrantSlate
Free for two drafts, then $79 a month for Pro and $199 for Team, month to month.
Grant Frog
From $99 a month for their Essentials plan for small organizations, as published on their site. That figure is the annual-billing rate, so there is no month-to-month price to compare against directly.
Grant Frog's prices and features are as published on their site and their Lily AI page on 16 October 2026. Check them before you decide — vendor pricing and packaging change, and their site is the authority, not ours.
Which one is right for you
Choose GrantSlate if
You already know which funders you are approaching, and the bottleneck is the writing.
You want a full first draft rather than help editing sections you still have to assemble.
You want to pay $79 a month month-to-month rather than commit to a year.
You are a small organization or a solo grant writer with no grants program to administer.
Choose Grant Frog if
You need to find funders at volume and keep a portfolio of deadlines straight.
You have a team — development, executives, finance — collaborating on applications.
You need post-award reporting, task assignment or document storage.
You are a consultant running several clients' grants and want them in one workspace.
Questions people ask
Can I use both?
Yes, and some organizations will. Grant Frog runs the grants program; GrantSlate writes the draft. Nothing about either stops you using the other, and if you already pay for a grants management platform, keeping it and adding the writing is a reasonable answer.
Grant Frog's AI also writes from your own content. Isn't that the same thing?
It is the same idea, and they said it too. The difference is the job. Lily AI assists section by section inside your content library: a cover letter, an executive summary, a title, a proofread. GrantSlate produces the whole draft from the funder's guidelines under a rule that it may only cite figures you entered. If you want help writing what you have already decided to write, theirs fits. If you want the first draft produced and the arithmetic checked, ours does.
Is GrantSlate a cheaper Grant Frog?
No, and we would rather say so than take the signup. We do no funder database, no pipeline, no deadline reminders and no post-award reporting. If those are what you need, we are not a substitute at any price.
Why is GrantSlate cheaper?
We do one job. There is no funder index to license and keep current, no CRM, no reporting layer and no onboarding team. The price reflects the scope, not a discount on the same thing.
Are these prices current?
Grant Frog's $99 a month figure is as published on their own site on 16 October 2026, and vendor pricing and packaging change. Check their page before you decide.
